“It is so difficult turning animal photography into art but a lot of your photos do precisely that, so congratulations. P.B. Algarve”
About me
‘THE PURPOSE OF ART IS TO MAKE VISIBLE THE INVISIBLE’ Franco Fontana
I'm Pete Downing and I’m a wildlife and nature photographer living in Nailsworth, UK.
I have been inspired by the natural world ever since I was a youngster. It has given me so much pleasure through the years that I am now seeking, through my images, to give something back.
As a result all profits from my wildlife photography are donated to conservation charities globally.
Photography has changed my whole way of ‘seeing’.
The idea of capturing a moment in a way that might pass unnoticed by the casual observer is my primary objective.
I aspire to make interesting, thought provoking and hopefully unique images by applying my own personal aesthetic.
Whether the image is of a common species or a rarity is not my driving force. My aim is to inspire the viewer to connect with the natural world regardless of the subject matter.
Fine art prints of some of the images on the website can be ordered here
My galleries will be updated regularly so please feel free to visit again soon. They represent just a sample of my body of work and therefore if you have any specific requests for images of other species please let me know and I will search my archive.
